2 Broke Girls w poprzednim sezonie miewały zarówno lepsze, jak i gorsze momenty (z przewagą niestety tych drugich). Z każdym kolejnym odcinkiem widz odnosił coraz mocniejsze wrażenie, że już gdzieś widział i słyszał te dowcipy, a co gorsza, że nie są one na tyle dobre, by śmiać się z nich dwa razy. Dialogi brzmiały tak, jakby napisał je scenarzysta-stażysta, którego jedynym przygotowaniem do pracy było obejrzenie kilku losowo wybranych odcinków i powielenie tego, co tam widział i słyszał. Najwyraźniej jednak twórcy Dwóch spłukanych dziewczyn potrafią wyciągać wnioski z własnych błędów (albo znaleźli kreatywniejszych stażystów), bo jak na razie piąty sezon zapowiada się całkiem nieźle.
Nadal mamy tu całą gamę tego, co dla serialu typowe: żenujące żarty, niesamcze dowcipy, komizm sytuacyjny i charakterologiczny. Jeśli ktoś nie lubi naśmiewania się ze wszystkiego i wszystkich, zwłaszcza w najbardziej nieodpowiednich momentach, to stanowczo nie jest to serial dla niego. Dowcipy co i rusz balansują na granicy dobrego smaku, a czasem nawet zostawiają ją daleko w tyle. Jednak w przeciwieństwie do sezonu czwartego nie czuć tu powtórki z rozrywki i ciągłego odgrzewania tych samych gagów. Jest zabawnie i z pomysłem.
Co najważniejsze, scenarzystom wreszcie udało się sprawić, by to główne bohaterki były najlepszym i najśmieszniejszym elementem serialu. To duży krok naprzód, bo w poprzedniej odsłonie Dwóch spłukanych dziewczyn często zdarzało się, że wszystkie inne postacie były zabawniejsze i ciekawsze niż Max i Caroline. Kat Dennings i Beth Behrs to dobrze dobrany duet, a kiedy scenarzyści wreszcie dają im coś fajnego do zagrania, to naprawdę świetnie się je ogląda. Zwłaszcza w drugim odcinku, który zbudowany jest według bardzo prostego schematu, a mimo to można w nim znaleźć wiele okazji do śmiechu.
Nie znaczy to jednak, że ucierpieli na tym drugoplanowi bohaterowie. Wśród nich jak zwykle prym wiedzie Sophie, wzbijająca się na wyżyny własnej niedorzeczności. Przygotowania do jej ślubu z Olegiem były szczytem absurdu, ale nawet one nie przyćmiewają jej nowego pomysłu. Jako świeżo upieczona żona Sophie postanawia zajść w ciążę i nie przeszkadza jej w tym nawet fakt, że okres „spóźnia się” jej o mniej więcej pół roku. Jak przystało na bohaterkę taką jak Sophie, jej starania o potomka są kopalnią komediowych pomysłów na co najmniej kilka odcinków.
2 Broke Girls wraz z początkiem piątego sezonu przynoszą widzom nadzieję na powrót dawnej, dobrej formy serialu. Wielu poprzednich błędów już udało się scenarzystom uniknąć i nic nie stoi na przeszkodzie, by dalej było tylko lepiej.
