Australia, lata 90. Państwo Wiggins giną w tajemniczych okolicznościach. Osierocają dwójkę dzieci - Victorię i Alberta . Trafiają oni wpierw do sierocińca, a później pod opiekę stryja, Sir Joshua Canberry'ego. Mieszka na małej farmie, gdzieś w okolicach Sydney i jest ekscentrycznym wynalazcą.
